WEEKEND: 5.2.14

Strawberry rhubarb sorbet in the making. The rhubarb came from the garden of one of my coworkers.

On Saturday morning, I along with 589 others packed these meals to give to the hungry. I don't know how many assembly lines there were, but my job was to seal these packets of rice, soy and dried vegetables. It was surprisingly fun.  By the end of the day, we packed enough food for 600,000 people.

Sunday was Bloomsday. We took a little hike to get to the race and arrived in time to see the beginning of the men's elite group.

And then the very impressive also-rans.
It was fun to see the groups ebb and flow, and the costumes, the range in ages, and the way many of them thanked and cheered on the solo performer who was providing tunes for the runners.
 Heading back home.

The balsamroot are in full force right now. Patches of yellow everywhere!

That's a hawk to the upper right of the bridge.

A nice reminder that we live in the Lilac City.
Pausing for another shot of the race.
She was so patient and up for whatever.

Runners across the bridge, heading uphill. Good work, Bloomies!
One of many walks on our nice neighborhood streets, this time on our way back from the store on Saturday. I'm realizing that I'm getting a lot of these "a man and his dog" kinds of shots lately. They make me feel warm and fuzzy.
