Here we have Idaho

I get homesick for spring in southern Idaho. While Spokane is just waking up from the long winter, Boise is blossoming everywhere: convertible tops are down, the hills are green (for a moment), cruiser bikes are multiplying, and those stinky (in a good way) flowering trees are raining petals. It was a happy place to be an April birthday girl.

It was a treat to be there last week. Mom and Dad are ideal hosts. They let me relax, took me out to eat, treated me to a movie, walked along the Boise River with me; we watched old movies, made great food, drove slowly down Harrison Boulevard (I drool over those old houses), visited a few shops in my favorite Hyde Park and meandered around the Boise Co-Op. I enjoyed sitting at the piano for a couple hours, too. Add to that some lovely visits with old friends and my brother and his family, walks around the neighborhood, and sun-filled weather. Perfection.

And by the time I returned to Spokane, the trees were budding and blossoming and the tulips were blooming. Second spring! I timed it well.
