I can't shake the feeling that I should be paying more attention to things in the world. I'm not talking about the news or things that are shouting at me to look at them. This is more of the Mary Oliver approach of looking at unassuming things as vital partners in your existence, with, perhaps, less pressure to be poetic. I just want to take better note of things. It can go hand in hand with gratitude, but not necessarily. It is about being open to wonder, disappointment, humor, and learning. A celebration of the mundane. Perhaps it's less about the self at the outset, but it should still tell me something about who I am on this pilgrimage. I'm into it.
It's kind of why this blog exists at all anymore, and why I started in the first place, 13 years ago (!!). But I've gotten lazy about taking pictures, don't always feel like writing, etc., etc. When I learned #The100DayProject was about to start (April 2), I thought this would be a good way to challenge myself to be an active documentarian of sorts.
So this is my announcement for accountability's sake in #The100DayProject. My plan: 1) Document tidbits and observations (in my journal), 2) take a photo each day (with my camera as much as much as possible, as opposed to my phone), and 3) blog about it. I may not be able to post here every day - giving myself some flexibility, if needed - but I plan to write and photograph daily, and post each day separately here. Maybe I'll incorporate something on Instagram, too, just so I can use the hashtag - a weekly recap/slideshow, perhaps.
Can I do it? The next few days will be spent practicing.
Intrigued by this worldwide creative challenge? Here's more about #The100DayProject.
