Week 47

We just returned from our Thanksgiving weekend in and around Bellingham, hence my lateness in posting. Good beer, good games, good rain, the *best* turkey cassoulet dinner, and of course, fun and meaningful times with family. The phone photos haven't been great lately but these capture a small slice of a great trip. It was over too fast and now I'm turning the volume up on my Christmas spirit.

Watching

The first installment of My Brilliant Friend did not disappoint last Sunday. The Apple Cup did disappoint a houseful of Cougs, however. We also watched Scrooged on Friday night.

Recipes

Prior to Thanksgiving, we did not do as some might advise in keeping the menu light. Instead, we ate homemade pasta on Sunday, I went out for burgers with my girlfriends on Monday, and on Tuesday, we cleaned out the fridge with pizza. We got to Bellingham on Wednesday night and enjoyed Thai food, and then had the most anticipated dinner of the year. But instead of a roasted bird, we seasoned some legs and made turkey cassoulet. We couldn't stop talking about what a good decision it was. It was still labor intensive, but well worth the effort.

Making

I forgot to bring my knitting on our trip, so I took it as a chance to do other things...like visit, read and daydream.

Reading

I took a break from the gratuitous romance novel I've been reading to catch up on some magazine articles in the Atlantic and New York Times Magazine.

Listening

We listened to several good podcasts on the road, including This American Life's "Where There Is a Will," and Krista Tippett interviewing Frances Kissling about finding good in other peoples' positions (political or otherwise), and how to have better conversations and build empathy on On Being. We are also still curious about CBD after listening to Science Vs.
