WEEKEND: Nov. 15

We built our first-ever fire in the fireplace on Friday night! It was a nice way to end a stressful day and week, sitting by the glow of it with bourbon in our cups and a creepy new episode of The Returned on the TV.
Drinking this vintage soda reveals my changing tastes. In high school, the flavor was far too bitter for my Coca-Cola-acclimated tastebuds. Today it's right up my alley.
The light around the dining room table at about 3:30 p.m. is downright moody. I'm easily captivated by these shadows.

A good friend of mine had a "Pie and Whiskey" birthday party: in lieu of gifts, guests were to bring one or the other. I considered many a variety of pie, but the thought of so many cut-into, half-eaten pies drove me to prepare these peanut butter pretzel tartlets that can be consumed in one bite. Pretzel crust, peanut butter filling, dark chocolate topping (with peanuts and flaked sea salt for fanciness). I love these things. Mayhaps I shall share the recipe.
