Summer Journal: Week 4

Joel's birthday. Remembering that time we were in Italy and drank espresso after every meal.
I've been spending a lot of time in the Whitworth archives lately. It's definitely been an unexpected perk of the job, and one that feeds my love of nostalgia. This is from a leaflet that promotes the Whitworth College Booster Club from the 1940s. Look at those typefaces.
That lovely slice of raisin bread is from Christmas. The recipe made three loaves, two of which I froze for days like these. Christmas in July.
My striped cat. Her favorite spot on hot days.
I bought the happy bouquet the woman is holding. Who doesn't love the farmer's market?
It was too hot to do anything else but sit in an air-conditioned coffee shop (a very fancy one, at that) on Saturday afternoon and read.

We celebrated my sixth and Joel's ninth time up at the Phillips' cabin on Priest Lake. It's not summer until this happens. We're already planning Joel's big 10-year next year.
